Asiah Wolfolk-Manning, Esq., CPC, is a certified educational trainer, speaker, and renowned author helping professionals to transform and achieve the abundant, balanced lifestyle they deserve.
WE ALL WANT TO LIVE A FULL AND ABUNDANT LIFE.
On the outside, it looks like you’re thriving.
But on the inside, you feel “stuck.”
People think you have it all together because you’re strong, accomplished and successful. As you carry the weight of your career, your family, and everyone else’s expectations, heavy is the head that wears the crown.
The real pressure isn’t just the external stress – work, deadlines, and getting kids to their activities.
It’s the self-imposed pressure to give your best to everything and everyone.
That pressure often shows up in our everyday life as:
People-pleasing – Saying “yes” when you should say “no”
Perfectionism – The pressure to always have it all together
Overachievement – Feeling like you need to do more to be enough
Emotional suppression – Minimizing your pain to make others comfortable
Success should not come at the cost of your peace and personal fulfillment.
But right now, you feel like a hamster on a wheel going through the motions.
I understand you because I was you.
No matter what I achieved, I was driven to accomplish the next task and conquer the next challenge. No matter how I felt, I continued to push through.
As a high achiever and a perfectionist, you appear to be winning on the outside.
But on the inside, you are losing yourself.
At the pinnacle of your success, you question – “Is this it? There has to be more!”
You’ve been conditioned to:
✔ Keep going when you’re exhausted.
✔ Smile when you’re sad.
✔ Give when you have nothing left for yourself.
This has left you feeling:
❌ Overlooked
❌ Drained
❌ Unsupported
❌ Misunderstood
❌ Invisible
You crave peace, balance, and freedom—but every time you try to slow down, guilt creeps in.
Here’s what I found—
Confronting my biggest fear—REJECTION—did not destroy me.
Instead, it set me free.
I used to think self-care was optional. I believed that if I just worked harder, kept pushing, and proved my worth, I’d finally feel fulfilled.
But the truth is, I had to heal the broken pieces inside of me before I could truly thrive.
Now, I understand that:
✅ Self-preservation is essential—not selfish.
✅ My needs matter just as much as my success.
✅ I don’t need permission to put myself first.
And you don’t either.
Balance is a daily practice of aligning our priorities with our needs, goals, and values in a way that gives us peace.
You can have balance each day.
But, it will not look the same because our priorities do not stay the same.
Just like you, I found myself wondering, “Can I really put myself first?”
Yes, we can. And yes, we must.
